THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION
Einstein said this was one of the fundamental questions you need to establish the answer to in your life: Is the universe friendly?
The short answer is:
Of course, there are many who say the universe is friendly and/or imply that we can make it go after our wishes (e.g. "The Secret"). But that is something they merely made up, though it is a more useful belief than thinking the universe is unfriendly.
But the universe is neither friendly nor unfriendly. It doesn't have any "conscious" "intention". It just exists.
THE REAL QUESTION: DOES IT WORK?
It does work.
It is a system that balances itself off.
That is true, but it is not true that the universe is not random, that is, with regard to you, as this little teeny thing in this massive chaos relative to the universe.
A storm on one side of the planet is balanced by another opposite somewhere else, but to us that somewhere else doesn't matter, as we are going to get rained on anyway - and the universe is not affected one bit by us.
Though the universe is chaotic and random to us, the fact is that mostly we don't have to suffer as very few extremes really hit us.
We get waves in our oceans and instead of cursing them, we can just surf them.
Overall, the universe provides an incredibly supportive base for us, with food, water, sun, nature, other living creatures, miraculous chemical elements, etc. and etc. and etc. - such that things work for us. We are supported in living our lives.
But we dare not clash with it, as it will win. We can utilize it, surf on the waves, sail with the winds, but we shan't defy gravity.
We need to recognize that there are some very key principles about how the universe works. And if we align with those principles, the universe is a beneficial universe - and we just need to take advantage of those principles and use them to get benefits for ourselves.
The evidence is in how magnificently abundant our lives are and how we are, with few exceptions, very safe and fortunate. (It's a 99+% things, I think.)
A part of the process of seeing that it is a safe place lies in debunking the artificial threats of danger that we create and don't really exist - plus accepting that undesired outcomes are no big deal..
