MORE FEEDBACK ON HOMESTEAD SITEBUILDERS

Are the desktop builder and online builder incompatible?  Will something built and published on sitebuilder plus not show up completely in the desktop version when it is loaded subsequently???

Losing pieces of pages:
Example:  contents/links life management
On the sitebuilder plus, downloads as a blank page (with all white except for a slim blue strip at the side)
On the desktop:  downloads without the central text box (which is a white page the other ones are layered over in the correct version)

Too many problems with sitebuilder plus, so is there another workable alternative?  For instance,

Can I be working on different sites in plus and in desktop at the same time?
Can I be working in destop with two different versions on the same computer?
Can I be woking in desktop on two different sites on two different computers?

How do I keep from losing parts of pages or being incomplete if I am working on different sitebuilders versions and/or on two different computers?

SITEBUILDER PLUS SECTION

This section is about Sitebuilder Plus unless otherwise identified.  There is a lower section with the Desktop Version comments.

I would like to be able to use the online sitebuilder to work on one site while working on another site on the desktop version so I can use the stronger desktop version software when needed.  I have to limit my pages on the main site as told by the help advisors due to the limit in the desktop version.

In the box "Start From Save Point?", it would seem that (assuming when I made changes after a save Iwanted those changes) I would always click start from last change - and then I wouldn't lose any of my work - correct?????

New pages

If you do not enter the name for the page at the first chance, when you name it in page settings, it is not saved as such in the "view page" box - so you won't be able to find it later (without a lot of effort) to edit it! On Barksdaleaboutlife.com, there are pages identified as Page 04, page 05 ...and can't rename them.

On the home page, even though I entered link colors in the page settings, it kept the old link color - and I could not change it!  This was sometimes true on other pages and sometimes not….
See LifeBanana.com pages.

If I wanted a totally blank page, I could not get one directly.  I had to delete everything on the page.  i went to help and I don't even get a page with those options on it!!!!   (I finally had to go to the desktop version to do the initial creation and start with a blank white page, publish, and then I could have the choice on the online sitebuilder to use that page!)

I accidentally found how to add a new folder, but I can't seem to find it again.  I entered new folder in help, but the search engine would not proceed (I deleted and redid the "help" but it didn't make any difference).  I want to have a hierarchy in lifemanagement2.homestead.com and add a file under Relationships folder but I can't figure out how to do that.  (I see that I can use "save as" and stick a copy of a page in the hierarchy, but then I have to eliminate the other page...)

Images

In attempting to use an image (see lifebanana.com/bananawisdom), it would not let me use the whole image.  I could not expand the box upward without it automatically widening - and then I couldn't use the whole image that I wanted.  What is going on?  (finally, I got the whole one, but at the sixth try, when it didn't try to get me to crop it...)

Communication, refer tools

I could not find the "refer a friend" or "recommend this site" inserts.  What happened?

I accidentally found how to add a new folder, but I can't seem to find it again.  I entered new folder in help, but the search engine would not proceed (I deleted and redid the "help" but it didn't make any difference).  I want to have a hierarchy in lifemanagement2.homestead.com and add a file under Relationships folder but I can't figure out how to do that.  (I see that I can use "save as" and stick a copy of a page in the hierarchy, but then I have to eliminate the other page...)

If I work on several pages, and forget which were saved, I can't find a button that saves all files at once.

DESKTOP VERSION

Even though LifeBanana.com is fully published, I can't get those pages into the desktop version to override an initial start on the desktop version that is incomplete.  Yikes!  How do I override an incorrect version with a correct version?

Can I have two sites up at once (on desktop), assuming I load sitebuilder desktop twice?  Can I load desktop sitebuilder twice onto one computer or do I need two separate computers? (I am not sure that I can tolerate working with the online version.)

How can I download published files that when going into my desktop will override what is in the desktop?  (If I publish on the sitebuilder plus, I often won't get that published page into the desktop.

This morning I started up Barksdaleaboutlife.com on another computer in the desktop and the index page had not text in the major text box!

Told would be discontinued...

More than one help advisor has said that eventually the desktop version would be discontinued.  (That, of course, is a material, significant item to disclose, in integrity.)  The desktop version is superior to the online version AND, as noted, it can do several things that the online version cannot.

It would be a real pity to drop the desktop version.

They said it is because people can't go to another computer and use it, because there might be saved pages that are not yet published.  That is, in my opinion, not a good reason to discontinue.

Without this, the bigger accounts are bound to move.  The smaller ones won't know the difference, but eventually they will start looking when they hit a few glitches - and Homestead will no longer be able to keep up by recruiting new people - the business will go elsewhere most likely, at an increasing rate.

Cut off some anchor links

Anchor link #42 no longer appears in the link menu (it stops at #38) when I am trying to link to a section on the Happiness page.   So I had to cut out that whole piece and make a separate page out of it, as I could no longer link on this page.  (The link to a previous linked description of the piece still worked on the published site!)

TIPS ON USING THE DESKTOP VERSION

I could not copy and paste into a page when first pulling up the desktop version.  What I discovered was that I had to first copy from a desktop page and paste that onto the page - and then I could copy and paste from outside the desktop - i.e. I could copy excerpts from the web and from word documents.
