The purpose for the coaching is to create greater good for Barbara so that she can build a very strong life structure and philosophical foundation for her being very happy.


CHECKLIST FOR OUR CONVERSATIONS

This is for email coaching conversations and for phone conversations.

Homework and Email communications

Barbara is to send written copies of completed "homework", so that feedback and suggestions from Keith can be more effectively utilized.  The idea of doing written homework is that it helps Barbara to more effectively apply her will and to think things through on her own, to develop more of that "muscle".

As it is vital to limit the contact oriented toward solving "symptoms" (situations) that occur and instead to focus on actually building at the foundational level, each contact shall be based on "what's next".  She and her coach are to agree on what homework will be done, with the next communication occurring after that homework is done, with the exception that clarifications and/or renegotiations about the homework will occur in the interim.  It is only through the completion of more in-depth homework and in thinking and developing her thinking around something that progress can be made effectively. 

Accordingly, it is useful, both for the conversation and for building the skill, to create one's own solutions, using a problem solving form.  The most used form, to be filled out as well as one can, would be the 1 1/3 Page Traditional Simple form or one of the other Problem Solving Forms (note the psych problem solving forms, possibly use Rational Analysis).

The exception to doing this systematically in a problem solving mode would only be a truly dire emergency.

Calls

Duration.  Calls will be limited in time to no more than a half hour.
Limited Frequency. Other than specifically agreed times for calls, they are only to be made in "crisis" and otherwise handleable - and only if it will be useful.  The suggested frequency is once every three weeks (as also suggested by Barbara).
