Review/scan The Happiness Plan to get an idea of all that can possibly be involved.  Remember, though, that you'll be doing the pieces one at a time.  This learning plan is the first piece of the Program For Increasing Happiness, with the next two segments being implementation of what is needed.  You'll find that you will also that you will start implementing the necessary steps during your learning process.  Later, you'll refer back to some of the learning pieces during the implementation stages.

First, read The Only Path To Happiness, The Eight Happiness Factors.

Then read these key readings: (Definitely read the documents in capital letters for "grounding" and an overview.)  Note that many of the pieces have long descriptions of the content contained in the piece - do not confuse that with additional assigned readings!

                         type summary of the key points, easy and quick - no doubt which way to go!

                      How To Reconstruct Your Mindset For Greater Happiness - Where you'll get more
                         than a 100 times return for your time versus other things you can do.  Going to
                         the "core" suggested here will make all the difference.  This is mandatory!!!!
                     THE ATTRIBUTES OF HAPPY AND UNHAPPY PEOPLE - If you have any of the
                          attributes of the unhappy person, you'd better "handle" that!!!  Make sure you've
                          learned how  to do all of the attributes of  happy people (we give you references
                          to go to).

                            What the top happiness producers are and whether you'll commit to them.

                              You can, if you wish, look at the actions, planning, and learning needed to

               Read and learn
 
                     Happiness Adders - A quick one page overview where you get to decide which
                         enhances of happiness you'll really go for.
                      FEELING GOOD - We could say this is what happiness is.  But we need to create
                          certain types of "feel goods" that will last and accumulate durably in the
                          happiness bucket.

             are discussed, besides the producers below.   Those items are often linked from those pages, but if
             you find one of particular interest, simply use the search engine.

             These items below have alot of depth into which you can go, but for now read the summary pieces
             that lead into the sections.  (Remember, each section has a contents/links page so you can scan
             and pick particular pieces of interest.

                     GRATITUDE - Go to this special section to learn this key component of "intentional
                         happiness" (which is part of proactively creating happiness, since it might not
                         happen randomly!  This also offsets our unhappiness tendency where we
                         exaggerate and fear losses. (You might start to put some of the most relevant pieces into
                         your Reminders Notebook, which is a key piece to implement later in this program.)
                     OPTIMISM - Read this piece:  Intelligent Optimism
                     STRONG PSYCHOLOGICAL FOUNDATION   BELIEFS ENHANCEMENT and
                           Managing And Eliminating Fear - We'll revisit these in more depth, but I wanted to
                           spotlight them here for now.
                     STRONG LIFE PHILOSOPHY:  Ultimately good psychology is based on good philosophy, so
                           part of the happiness program will be to tie your life philosophy down and to create a great

                     STRONG STANDARDS AND VALUES - These serve both as necesssary guides and
                           boundaries to make life work easier and better.

Link to page for RESOURCES FOR HAPPINESS so you can see what else is available to help in understanding.  Even after you've read the pieces on this site, you'll want to continue your learning (or to use some of these as supplements while you are doing the program).  I would recommend that you read all the books rated with an A+ and A1.  All the books recommended have a very good payoff (you can buy many as good quality used books on Amazon).  Use the videos as an alternative educational source - and watch them in lieu of TV!
