PLANNING OVERVIEW AND DISCUSSION
CREATING THE RESULTS YOU WANT

See Why Plan?, below.

The success of the plan is contingent on productivity (See Time/Productivity, Contents/Links).

A life plan is simply the process of allocating one's life (and time) to what creates the most life value for oneself.  Without planning, one's life is given away and not worth much, if anything.

In a take on Socrates "A life unexamined is not worth living", Aristotle opines that "A life unplanned is not worth examining", as it contains very little of value.
     ____________________________________________________________

A plan is simply written goals of what you want, a recognition of where you are and then the steps needed to get one to where one wants to be.  Without it, you will live life as a random, meandering, unfulling whole (or hole).

See What To Do To Construct Your Life Plan - How And In What Order.  To get anywhere, we must figure out where "there" is and then construct the platform and path that will get us there.

WHY PLAN?

Simply because it gets better results.  And one hour of effective planning saves many hours of ineffective time and effort.

Without a written plan, most people do not succeed at a decently high level.  A good plan is a must for real success.  (See, in the Success section,  what it takes to be successful.)

Although intangible, planning is the same idea as doing an architectural plan to build a better building faster. Without the detail, the whole thing will not be solid or well-built.

With effective planning, clearer and higher objectives are generated, more ideas are created, a better support system is designed and implemented, and more effective follow through is created.  If you need more detail about why, see Why Bother To Plan write-up - success is only created through planning.

You'll love the results after you create your "LifePlan" to create the life you'll love.

THE "PERSPECTIVE ADVANTAGE"

One of the greatest principles of power in life is to create from a high perspective, where we are sitting back in our chair seeing the overall picture of what is wanted and then choosing the means.  Too often we get stuck down in the details and the grind and we miss some of the really big things, besides also feeling a lack of control.

Going into the Perspective Mode puts you fully into control, vision, and doing what really matters, dropping out the crappola.

See also the write-ups cited below.

THE "PRIORITY OPERATING ADVANTAGE"

When planning and using a higher perspective, we must prioritize what will get us the best result for our time, as we have limited time.  This is what the Time And Productivity Management section is about.  Review that as background.

THE STEPS TO TAKE IN PLANNING

Leave out any of the steps to getting results and, quite simply and obviously, you'll likely not be nearly as successful.  Review the list of steps on the first page of the steps to success and, then, at that time or later, review the explanations that follow, with links to what you can use for business and personal plans.

Several relevant writeups are included in the Success section and the overall first write-up to review would be The Steps To Successfully Achieving A Result.  In that write-up, you'll see that planning is actually Step IV.  Review the list of steps on the first page and, then, at the same time as you are reading it or later, review the explanations that follow, with links to what you can use for business and personal plans.

Next, read The Planning Steps, which delineates what to do when, and where to go to either get a specific form or to begin the planning process.  A key but often overlooked component of success is seeing and creating the experience and results desired, in detail - Visualization.

DO THIS TO PLAN AND UTILIZE THE PROVIDED FORMS/FORMATS

TO EASILY START ON THE PLAN.

To devise the actual plan, pick one of the Planning Notebook formats (just click on one!).  Or, if you wish, you can use this overall COMPONENTS OF ANY PLAN, which works no matter what one is planning for.

You'll find it very easy, just pick and choose what depth you want to go into - and go back later and fill in the more complete versions if you wish, as it is all organized for flexibility and easy reference.
